Using high intensity UV light and specially selected catalysts, atg Evoqua can offer a cost effective ‘Advanced Oxidation Process’ as a final polish technique used to breakdown and remove trace micro pollutants and organics such as BTEX’s, Phenols and PAH’s, allowing produced water to be safely and environmentally friendly discharged into the environment.
Over 70% of produced water worldwide returning from the well requires disposal. In order to discharge into the environment, oil and gas operators are required to treat produced water to a high standard, removing hydrocarbons, chemicals and other toxic compounds to protect the environment and meet environmental discharge requirements and regulations such as OSPAR and the Priority Substances Directive.
Advanced Oxidation is an established treatment technology for drinking water, wastewater and for ultra-pure water used in electronics manufacturing and power generation (boiler feed water). By forming Hydroxyl Radicals (OH-) through reactions with an appropriate catalyst, Advanced Oxidation is highly effective at breaking down organic and chemical contaminants into their base components of CO2 and H20.
