Water reuse is becoming a significant requirement in water-stressed areas worldwide and has seen many municipal drinking water operators turn to the NWRI (National Water Research Institute) guidelines for wastewater reuse (2012) in order to ensure their drinking water plants can meet capacity.
By independently bio-assay testing UV system performance with live surrogate microorganisms at a vast range of UVT’s, the NWRI validation provides a detailed specification and guaranteed performance solution to treat effluent wastewater to a very high standard, allowing the water to be reused as drinking water. Often referred to as ‘Toilet-to-Tap’ or the ‘California Title 22 Standard’, the wastewater can effectively be re-injected to the head of a standard drinking water works without the need for any environmental barrier.
