atg UV are Pleased to Sponsor the PWTAG Healthy Pool Seminar
atg UV are sponsoring the PWTAG Healthy Pools national seminar today, to address the difficult technical issue of Cryptosporidium, whose resistance to routine pool disinfection makes it a uniquely challenging pathogen.
Duncan Ockendon from atg UV will describe the benefits of UV disinfection in cryptosporidium control and specifically, unveil for delegates the PWTAG guidance being developed by the UV industry on best practice and validation.
PWTAG is aware that there are still far too many incidents of cryptosporidiosis (an acute gastrointestinal illness) linked to swimming pools. In many cases the response from pool operators to the public health threat is unsatisfactory. The result is often bathers’ health at risk, pool inspections by health authorities, pool closures and even legal action.
To help address this issue PWTAG is conducting a number of national seminars designed to make operators more aware of the problem, the potential hazards and what can be done to both help prevent and deal with the problem when it arises. These seminars will also introduce PWTAG’s new Poolmark scheme – an accreditation initiative based on the group’s authoritative code of practice (a free online resource).
